Android Q

Google has made many disclosures about Android Q during the opening of Keynote in ‘Google IO 2019’. Google has developed a new night theme, some exciting and effective accessibility features, better privacy and security initiatives, and parental controls. However, now Google has named it ‘Android 10’, which is simpler than other Android version names. The company is just released Android 10, but initially just for Pixel phones.

Android 10: Top 6 features to know

Google just had an announcement about Android Q in its annual IO a few months ago. Now it has been named ‘Android 10’ that will be the next version of the world’s most widely used smartphone operating system, Android. This is going to bring many new features to your smartphone. Here are some of the best features of Android 10.

1. Face-ID authentication

Some code found by developers in XDA shows that Android Q can support face id integration throughout the system. Like it happens in the iPhone too. Face ID is much safer than a regular front camera.

It uses face unlocking and dedicated hardware which creates a 3D scan of the face which should be very difficult to break. Although this feature will be for unlocking the phone, but may also work as authentication methods for payment and sign-in.

2. System-wide dark mode, dark theme

The Android 10 will bring a dark theme for the smartphone, in which the entire surface will be replaced with a high contrast background of black color. The dark mode is becoming very popular nowadays.

It is considered to be a more attractive skin. Apps like Twitter, youtube, facebook messenger and even WhatsApp are also heading towards dark mode. This will be a good feature for smartphones with OLED display. In the dark mode, fewer pixels have to be turned on, so it can also save battery.

3. Latest navigation gestures

The screen of our phone is getting bigger. That’s why there was a natural progression of being a navigation gesture in place of a button or soft key. However, until now, these gestures were not organized. That means every smartphone manufacturer was implementing it in their own ways.

With Android 10, Google is providing navigation gestures based on swipes along with taps. With Android 10, Google wishes to offer navigation gestures not only on a tap-based. However, OEMs can still give their own gestures to other OSs, but Android 10 seems to bring pill-styled navigation gestures to all phones.

4. Foldable display

2019 is for the Foldable Phone. This year we saw the Foldable Phone Concept Their hardware is very attractive, but without proper software support, they will not work properly.

For this, Google wants to help innovators by creating, foldable and large display devices, Android-friendly. Similarly, the Android 10 will be compatible to move from one display to another at a smooth speed.

5. Bubbles multitasking and overlay

Facebook Messenger was the first to offer a floating button. It was one of the mainstream apps, which can be topped up with a single tap. The new Android OS can also bring a bubble UI for Google Hangouts and Messenger as well as many more apps. It’ll also facilitate the making of floating interfaces to other apps.

6. Better security and privacy

Android Developer Blog Post, which announced developer beta, emphasized on privacy in the OS. It has also been confirmed in the Keynote of Google IO 2019

Users will have more control over their location information, shared files, and app access to repositories such as photos and videos. It will also better protect users from identifying their MAC address in different Wi-Fi networks, restricting access to non-resettable device identifiers, such as serial numbers and IMEI phones.
