India can travel in a coach soon, which will run at 496 Kmph. This is Hyperloop, the ultra-fast, futuristic transport system. Hyperloop in India will also be the first in the world, which will soon be at the end of its construction. Initially, this hyperloop in India will run between two cities, Mumbai and Pune, which will cover the distance in less than 35 minutes.
The future of India, HyperLoop is a ‘public infrastructure project’ and yet, the theoretical transport system has been designated by the state of Maharashtra. On completion of this project, India will be the first country to get functional hyperloop train.
- The ultra-fast, futuristic transport system
- Will be the world’s first fully functional Hyperloop system
- Cover the distance between Mumbai and Pune in less than 35 minutes
However, still some tests, such as certifying Hyperloop for human travelers, are the rest and require a green flag. But the hyperloop manufacturing company ‘Virgin Hyperloop One’ showed faith in his technology, which has been almost finalized in Maharashtra. Elon Musk’s dream was that people would travel through supersonic vacuum tubes, soon there would be a reality through hyperloop in India. Virgin is enabling this futuristic transportation technology here.
Hyperloop in India will be the world’s first fully functional project
Reportedly, the Maharashtra government is going to start the bidding process for the construction of Pune-to-Mumbai Hyperloop. Here, Virgin Hyperloop One says that this will be the winner in the bid. And it will launch the world’s first Hyperloop.
Hyperloop in India will cut travel time and cover between Mumbai and Pune in less than 35 minutes. At present, you take up to three and a half hours or four hours to complete the distance. Hyperloop will run from Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Wakad of Pune. And will cover a distance of 117.5 km in one run.
What is Hyperloop?
Hyperloop is a new form of the ground transport system, which is currently in development by many companies. Theoretically, in a Hyperloop, passengers can travel at 700 miles an hour in floating pods within low-pressure tubes.
The Hyperloop technology concept was proposed by billionaire industrialist Elon Musk, CEO of the aerospace firm SpaceX. As per Musk’s concept, Hyperloop consists of two massive tubes extending from one city to another. The Pods will carry passengers and would run through the tubes at maximum speed up to 700 mph.
According to a report by The Verge, the company says that no taxpayer’s money will be spent on this project. DP World, which is a leading Dubai port operator, partnered with Vergin, spent $ 500 million to complete phase one of the project. The remaining money will be invested by other investors.
Discussion about this hyperloop project in India is going on since December 2016. Now ‘Virgin Hyperloop One’ has also signed an agreement with Maharashtra and Karnataka governments to study the effects of hyperloop in the states.
Virgin Hyperloop One has never tested the hyperloop system with human passengers. However, it has a test facility in the desert north of Las Vegas. And it has sent its magnetically levitating pod repeatedly via airless tube at a speed of 240 mph (370 km/h). The speed is very fast, but this is not the speed, which is the theoretical maximum of 700 mph (900 km/h) in hyperloop technology. The company believes that it requires extra 2,000 meters of the track to touch that velocity.
